A newly constructed pedestrian bridge in Herat city has been officially completed and handed over for public use. The concrete structure spans 53 meters in length, 2.20 meters in width, and 5.30 meters in height, directly connecting Gulha Square to Shahr-e-Naw Square.

The project was constructed by the Salam Bilal Construction Company over a five-month period at a cost exceeding 16 million Afghanis. Local authorities stated that the new crossing is intended to alleviate traffic congestion and improve pedestrian mobility in a busy commercial district of the provincial capital.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mawlawi Hidayatullah Badri and Herat Governor Sheikh Maulana Islamjar. During the event, both officials emphasized the bridge’s role in supporting local infrastructure development. They also pointed to broader industrial progress in the province, specifically referencing ongoing developments tied to the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India natural gas pipeline.

Provincial leaders highlighted the completion of the crossing as part of wider efforts to upgrade urban facilities and support economic activity in western Afghanistan. Authorities noted that the handover reflects continued investment in public works, with additional transit projects planned to accommodate the city’s growing population and daily commercial traffic.
