Sections of Gardez-Dand Patan Road Closed by Floods in Paktia Province
GHAZNI, Afghanistan (Afghan Verified) - The main road connecting Gardez to Dand Patan district in Paktia province has been temporarily closed in some sections due to heavy rains and flooding, Paktia authorities reported.
The floods have destroyed dozens of jeribs of agricultural land in Dand Patan, Chamkaniyo and Ahmad Khailo districts, according to the province's Natural Disasters Preparedness Department. Provincial officials described the damage as significant, affecting farmland in multiple areas.
Paktia provincial leadership, along with the emergency committee, Disaster Management Department and district officials, are actively monitoring the affected regions and working to address the issues promptly. Teams are assessing the extent of the damage and coordinating efforts to reopen the road and support impacted communities.
Officials noted that recent rains have led to financial and human losses across nearly all zones of the country, highlighting ongoing challenges from seasonal weather events in the region.
