Seven water supply projects have been completed and handed over in three districts of Kapisa province. The districts are Kohistan Hissa Do, Kohband and Nejrab.
The total cost for completing these projects reached 13 million Afghanis. The funding for the projects was provided by UNICEF.
Among the seven projects, five involved the building of new water supply networks. The remaining two projects were for the rehabilitation of existing water supply networks.
The scope of the work went beyond the networks. It also included the rehabilitation of water sources. Solar systems were installed as part of the projects. The projects saw the extension of pipes to new areas. Reservoirs for water were installed as well.
Hundreds of families stand to receive drinking water from these completed projects. In addition, the projects created jobs for dozens of people while they were being carried out.
Details of the completed projects were made available by the Rural Rehabilitation and Development Department of Kapisa. The department provided a comprehensive overview of all the activities that were undertaken.
The press release from the department listed all seven projects as completed and confirmed they have been handed over. This includes all the different elements such as the new networks, the rehabilitated ones, the solar installations and the other components.
