Sub-Health Center Inaugurated in Kunar Province to Serve Earthquake-Affected Residents

A newly constructed sub-health center has been officially inaugurated in the Arit area of Mazar Darreh, Nurgal District, in Kunar Province. The facility, developed by the HEALT organization at a cost of 2.3 million Afghanis, contains four clinical rooms and is specifically designed to provide primary medical services and free medications to approximately 7,000 local residents, many of whom were displaced or impacted by recent seismic activity in the region.

The inauguration was attended by several provincial authorities, including Public Health Department Head Qari Muzaffar Mukhlis, HEALT provincial director Dr. Hifzullah Sultani, Deputy Governor Mawlawi Abdullah Haqqani, and Economy Department Head Mawlawi Abdullah Hemmat. Officials stated that the center will prioritize the delivery of essential healthcare and ensure that prescribed medicines are distributed to patients without charge. They also highlighted the ongoing need for sustained coordination between humanitarian agencies and local administrations to address remaining infrastructure gaps and support long-term recovery.

Community members and government representatives at the ceremony described the project as a critical component of regional recovery efforts. The sub-health center is now fully operational and will serve as a primary point of care for surrounding villages, aiming to significantly reduce travel times for patients seeking routine medical attention and emergency treatment.
