The Swiss Foreign Ministry stated that Oman will host talks between the United States and Iran in Geneva next week.

The negotiations aim to pressure Tehran into reaching an agreement to limit its nuclear program, though the exact date remains unclear.

A spokesperson for the Swiss Foreign Ministry told AFP: "Switzerland is ready at any time to provide its efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran."

On February 6, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, in Oman. The talks were indirect, with Oman serving as mediator.

In recent weeks, Trump has emphasized military threats against Iran's nuclear program, deploying a second U.S. aircraft carrier to the Middle East. He described regime change in Iran as the "best possible event."

Switzerland, known for its neutrality, has played a key role in Iran-U.S. diplomatic relations for decades. Since Washington severed ties with Tehran after the 1980 hostage crisis, Switzerland has protected U.S. interests in Iran and handled all consular affairs between the two countries.

Separately, the United States will host talks between Russia and Ukraine in Geneva next week, mediated by Washington. These represent the next phase of efforts to end the four-year war, following two prior rounds in Abu Dhabi that yielded no tangible results amid ongoing tensions.
