Taliban foreign minister discusses recent regional developments with Iranian counterpart
KABUL (Hasht-e Subh) -- Amir Khan Muttaqi, Taliban foreign minister, held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi about recent developments and the current regional situation.
The Taliban Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Monday, 11 Hoot, saying Muttaqi expressed concern over the situation in Iran and condemned U.S. and Israeli attacks against the country as "aggression."
Muttaqi offered condolences to the Iranian government and people over the killing of Ali Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, and expressed sympathy.
According to the statement, Araqchi shared Iran's assessment of the recent U.S. and Israeli attacks and Tehran's reciprocal actions with Muttaqi.
Muttaqi stated that the Taliban "rejects violations of national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the sanctity of countries" and considers such actions contrary to accepted international principles.
He called for an immediate halt to tensions and a return by all parties to diplomatic channels for a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
The conversation comes amid ongoing attacks and tensions in Iran, with the Red Crescent announcing that 555 people have been killed so far in U.S. and Israeli attacks.
