Taliban Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Host 'Afghanistan and Central Asia Consultative Dialogue' Meeting in Kabul
KABUL — The Taliban Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host the "Afghanistan and Central Asia Consultative Dialogue" meeting on Sunday in Kabul, presided over by the Foreign Minister.
Senior representatives from Central Asian countries will attend the gathering to discuss political, economic and security issues, as well as regional cooperation, trade and transit.
A statement from the ministry said this is the first time since regaining power that the Taliban has hosted such a meeting under this title in Kabul.
Similar regional meetings on Afghanistan have been held previously. For example, an "Extraordinary Meeting of the Regional Contact Group of Special Representatives of Central Asian Countries on Afghanistan" took place last year in Dalwa in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Central Asian countries have not recognized the Taliban despite engaging in numerous such meetings nearly five years after the group regained power.
