Taliban Prevent Women from Entering Kabul Industry Exhibition
The third International Industry Exhibition of Afghanistan, focused on building, civil engineering, and reconstruction, began on Thursday in Kabul and is scheduled to run for five days with 400 booths. The event displays construction equipment including cameras, surveying tools, metal structures, rebar, tankers, PVC materials, moisture-proof insulators, and door and window fittings. Its stated goals include introducing new construction technologies, fostering market competition, developing networks, and advancing Afghanistan's construction sector. Some Iranian companies are participating.
Sources sent video footage to Amu TV indicating that Taliban enforcers from the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice prevented women from entering the exhibition. One participant told Amu TV that women faced violence from these enforcers while attempting to enter.
The Taliban have not commented on the incident. This follows previous instances where the Taliban have barred women from entering or participating in various exhibitions in Kabul and other parts of the country.
