Taliban Public Health Ministry Spokesperson Implicitly Confirms Legal Proceedings Against Employees
KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- Sharafat Zaman, spokesperson for the Taliban Ministry of Public Health, implicitly confirmed that some ministry employees may face legal proceedings for non-compliance with policies or violations of administrative principles.
Amu TV reported that Taliban intelligence raided the Public Health Minister's office last month, arresting five senior officials including Noorullah Darwish, head of documents and communications, on charges of administrative corruption. The detainees were later handed over to the 40th intelligence directorate.
The outlet also reported a raid on the minister's house on Saturday, during which several high-ranking officials were arrested on similar charges. Four of those arrested -- the deputy minister of services, head of treatment medicine, head of human resources, and head of the minister's office -- were later released on bail.
Zaman denied reports of the raid on the minister's house and the arrests on Saturday. He emphasized the ministry's commitment to transparency and stated that any violations would be addressed through legal actions in accordance with Sharia law.
The statements come amid ongoing efforts within the ministry to enforce administrative standards.
