British police have arrested three people after flammable materials were thrown at a building linked to the Iran International media outlet in the British capital.
The suspects are a 16-year-old boy, a 19-year-old man and a 21-year-old man. They were arrested on suspicion of attempted arson and endangering the lives of others.
The incident happened late Wednesday. The flammable materials landed in a parking area near the building and were quickly put out. There was no major damage and no one was hurt.
Counter-terrorism police are assisting with the investigation because the attack bears similarities to other recent incidents in north London. Those incidents include an attempted arson at a synagogue and an attack on ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity.
However, the latest event is not being treated as terrorism at this stage. Police said they are aware of unverified claims of responsibility by a group allegedly linked to Iran.
All possible motives are being considered and lines of inquiry are remaining open. Officers have stressed that there is no wider risk to the public.
The arrests follow a recent increase in hate-related crimes in the area, including antisemitic attacks.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the attempted arson and the motives of those arrested.
