Provincial officials stated that the event is designed to promote indigenous athletic traditions, identify promising competitors, and provide young people with a structured recreational outlet aimed at deterring substance abuse. Mawlawi Obaidullah Zahir, a provincial official, emphasized that supporting traditional sports remains a key priority for local authorities seeking to channel youth energy into positive activities. Ustad Rostam Panjshiri, who is assisting with the tournament’s organization, highlighted the historical importance of wrestling in the region and its continued relevance as a community-building practice.
The competition will proceed through the day, with organizers confirming that all scheduled matches will conclude by 5 p.m. At that time, award ceremonies will be conducted to distribute prizes to the winning athletes. Local sports authorities noted that the tournament aligns with broader provincial initiatives to sustain traditional athletic disciplines and encourage widespread participation in organized sports.
