Treatment Center for Malnourished Children Opens in Paktika’s Wazi Khwa District
A new medical facility dedicated to treating malnourished children has been established in the Wazi Khwa district of Paktika province. The provincial administration announced the opening of the center, which was constructed at a cost of 12.5 million Afghanis with financial backing from the United Nations Children’s Fund.
According to the Paktika provincial administration, the clinic features six dedicated treatment rooms. The facility will provide medical services to children residing in Wazi Khwa and surrounding districts. Officials stated that the center aims to improve access to pediatric nutritional care in the region and reduce the travel burden for families seeking treatment.
The project was developed with funding from the United Nations Children’s Fund, which covered the construction costs and initial setup. Provincial authorities noted that the clinic will operate under local health management to address cases of childhood malnutrition. The administration emphasized that the facility is intended to serve as a primary care point for vulnerable children in the district and neighboring areas.
Health officials indicated that the center will focus on delivering targeted treatment for malnourished patients. The provincial administration confirmed that the facility is now operational and ready to receive children from across the designated service area.
