Trump and Pezeshkian Sign Agreement to End US-Iran War

US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian have signed an agreement to end the war and extend the ceasefire between the United States and Iran.

The signing was completed electronically. The document had previously been signed by US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

The agreement extends the April truce by 60 days. It provides for the resumption of maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of some US sanctions, the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets, and the creation of a $300 billion post-war reconstruction fund.

Iran committed under the deal not to pursue nuclear weapons and to dilute its enriched uranium under International Atomic Energy Agency supervision.

Trump stated that attacks will resume if the agreement is violated.

The pact follows negotiations that included Pakistan as a mediator. It addresses the conflict that began on February 28.

One report indicated the war killed more than 7,000 people, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Israeli officials have expressed concerns over Iran's nuclear program and enriched uranium stockpile.
