Trump Announces Israel and Lebanon Agreed to 10-Day Ceasefire

In his announcement, US President Donald Trump stated that an agreement has been reached between Israel and Lebanon for a ceasefire that will last ten days. This ceasefire is to begin at five p.m. Eastern Time.

This agreement was made possible after a series of talks that were held in Washington involving officials representing Israel, officials representing Lebanon, and officials from the United States.

President Trump revealed that he had spoken directly with the President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, as well as with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. In these conversations, he urged both parties to maintain the momentum of the negotiations.

Furthermore, Trump characterized this particular ceasefire as representing his tenth successful effort aimed at ending wars. He has directed the Vice President of the United States along with the Secretary of State to work jointly in order to bring about a peace that can be sustained over the long term.

In addition, the President has extended an invitation to both President Aoun and Prime Minister Netanyahu for them to engage in further talks at the White House. Acceptance of this invitation by the two leaders has not yet been confirmed.

It is worth noting that in the course of making this announcement, President Trump did not make any specific reference to Hezbollah.
