Trump Rules Out Iran Talks Without Unconditional Surrender as Israel Presses Military Campaign
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he rejects negotiations with Iran, warning that the conflict could continue until the country's leadership is no longer in power.
Speaking to reporters on March 8, Trump indicated it was possible that all of Iran's leaders could be killed during the conflict, suggesting the war could end only after a complete collapse of leadership. He said the war would conclude only when Iran no longer has an active military or governing leadership capable of continuing resistance, adding that surrender might become impossible if no leaders remain.
His remarks came as military strikes by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran entered their second week. Tensions between Washington and Tehran have intensified sharply in recent weeks following a series of coordinated strikes targeting Iranian military facilities and strategic infrastructure across several locations.
Iranian officials have vowed retaliation and warned that continued attacks could draw more regional actors into the conflict, increasing the risk of a wider war in the Middle East. Trump's comments signal a firm stance toward Tehran amid growing international concern over prolonged regional instability.
