Trump Says Iran Has 'No Winning Cards' Ahead of Negotiations
US President Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that Iran "has no winning cards" and resorts to "short-term extortion" in international waterways, especially the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump said Iran is only in its current position because it entered negotiations and possesses no effective bargaining tools.
He warned that if no agreement is reached in upcoming US-Iran negotiations, the United States will resume military actions and intensify them.
In a phone interview with the New York Post, Trump said the US is strengthening its military capabilities and will employ them "very effectively" if necessary.
Trump expressed skepticism about the sincerity of Iranian officials, demanding that Iran completely abandon its nuclear programs, including enrichment.
He indicated that the outcome of the US-Iran negotiations will become clear soon, likely within the next 24 hours.
Diplomatic efforts toward a US-Iran agreement are continuing in Pakistan.
