Trump says US conducted powerful bombing of Iranian military targets in Bushehr
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he has rebuilt the U.S. military into the "deadliest, most powerful and most effective" force in the world and that Iran lacks the ability to defend any target the U.S. military wishes to strike.
In a statement, Trump said that by his order, the U.S. Central Command carried out one of the "most powerful" bombings in Middle East history on military targets in Iran's Bushehr province hours earlier, completely destroying them.
Trump added that out of "honor," he chose not to target the oil infrastructure on Gohartaj Island in Bushehr. However, he warned that if Iran or "anyone else" disrupts the free and safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, he would reconsider that decision.
"Our weapons are the most powerful and advanced weapons the world has ever seen," Trump emphasized.
He reiterated that Iran "will never have nuclear weapons" and will not be able to threaten the United States, the Middle East or the world at large.
Trump also urged Iran's army and armed forces linked to what he called the country's "terrorist" government to "wisely" lay down their weapons and save what remains, noting that he has been told "not much" is left.
Iranian officials have not yet responded to Trump's statement.
