Trump Signs Persian-Language Version of US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding

US President Donald Trump has signed the Persian-language version of a 14-point memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. The signing occurred during a dinner in France hosted by President Emmanuel Macron at the Palace of Versailles. Negotiations leading to the agreement were facilitated by Pakistan over several months. A final approval is anticipated to take place in Switzerland.

The memorandum outlines an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. It emphasizes respect for sovereignty and sets a timeline for a final agreement within sixty days. Additionally, it provides a framework for further discussions on nuclear matters. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian completed his signature on the document through electronic means.

Economic provisions in the agreement involve the lifting of restrictions on Iran's southern ports and the conclusion of the maritime blockade. Iran, for its part, is to restore shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. The package encompasses at least three hundred billion dollars in investments for reconstruction and support, together with a phased approach to sanctions relief.

Reports indicate that the agreement has prompted concerns in Israel about the possibility of Iran rebuilding its economy and extending its regional influence.
