Trump Warns China of 'Big Problems' Over Potential Arms Supplies to Iran
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has warned China that it will face "big problems" if it supplies weapons to Iran.
The remarks follow reports from CNN, citing U.S. intelligence, indicating that Beijing may deliver air defense systems to Iran, possibly through third countries. Trump's statement comes amid heightened tensions after a fragile ceasefire between Iran and the United States, following weeks of fighting involving Israel. Peace talks are currently underway in Islamabad.
Trump said: "If China does that, China is going to have big problems," without elaborating on specific U.S. actions.
China has denied the allegations, rejecting claims of providing weapons or military technology to Iran. Beijing dismissed reports involving satellite imagery or semiconductor supplies. Chinese officials emphasized their constructive role in the ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
Trump also threatened to impose tariffs of up to 50 percent on countries supplying arms to Iran.
