Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said that Israel is exploiting the Middle East war to expand its geography rather than for security purposes.
Fidan made these comments while speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum. He stated that Israel is benefiting from the war to control more territories.
The Turkish foreign minister explained that the actions taken are beyond defense. He pointed to the occupation of Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem as clear examples of this expansion.
Fidan accused the Zionist regime of masking its expansion in Lebanon and Syria. He said this is being done under the pretext of security.
At the same Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Syria's president criticized Israeli attacks on Syrian territory. The Syrian president called for a political solution to the ongoing issues.
Fidan's remarks underline the view that the war is being used as a means for territorial gains in the region. The minister focused on how security is being used as a cover for what he sees as expansionist policies in multiple areas including parts of Lebanon and Syria.
The participation of the Syrian president at the forum allowed for additional criticism of the Israeli actions. His call for a political solution reflects a desire to move away from military confrontations in the area.

Reliability assessment
Single source with direct attribution to named public official (Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan) making on-record statements at a specified event (Antalya Diplomacy Forum). Per guidelines, 'X said Y' from a named high-level official is concrete and reliable regardless of topic sensitivity.
The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Hurriyat: "Israeli regime", "Zionist regime", "actions beyond defense" – these employ derogatory labeling ("regime" for a state) and subjective judgment ("beyond defense"), infusing opinionated framing into the reporting of Fidan's statements.
