The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a meeting of the "Peace Delegation" initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, representing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to a report from Reuters on Wednesday, February 18, the meeting is scheduled for Thursday and marks the first gathering of this delegation.
A Turkish diplomatic source told Reuters that Fidan will emphasize the need for decisive steps to resolve the Palestinian issue. The minister plans to urge Israel to halt obstructions to aid deliveries to Gaza and end ceasefire violations. The source added that Fidan will express Ankara's readiness to assist in Gaza's reconstruction and the protection of Palestinians, while calling for immediate action against "illegal settlement activities and settler violence in the West Bank."
Erdogan's office stated that the Turkish president hopes the delegation will contribute to establishing lasting stability, a ceasefire, and ultimately peace in Gaza, paving the way for a two-state solution.
