UK Overturns Decisions on 884 Cases, Granting Residency to Former Afghan 'Triples' Soldiers
British ministers announced the overturning of decisions on 884 cases for former Afghan 'Triples' elite unit soldiers, granting them permission to stay in the UK under the 2021 resettlement program. The move follows a review of around 3,300 requests and confirmation of direct UK payments to the soldiers.

British ministers announced Thursday that decisions on 884 cases involving former soldiers from Afghanistan's elite 'Triples' units have been overturned, allowing them to reside in Britain under the Afghan resettlement and assistance program.
The program, launched in early 2021, supports individuals at risk due to their cooperation with British forces after the Taliban takeover in August 2021. The reversal follows a review of approximately 3,300 requests from Triples personnel.
In February 2024, the previous Conservative government acknowledged imprecise decisions and promised a review of about 2,000 cases, including those from the Triples units. In October 2025, Luke Pollard, Minister of Armed Forces, told the House of Commons that documents confirmed direct payments by the British government to Afghan Triples soldiers.
Pollard stated: "Improving the path is a continuous process... proud of the work to complete this review and fulfill our promise to support eligible Triples members."
The announcement addresses previous rejections due to lack of employment proof, after evidence emerged of UK payments to these forces.
