Ukraine is seeking an additional 20 billion dollars in military aid from Western allies. The request is scheduled to be presented at the next meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.

The additional assistance would be used to strengthen Ukrainian positions on the battlefield. It would also support efforts to expand drone strikes targeting Russian supply lines, logistics hubs, and support facilities. Ukrainian officials hope this will help offset the advantages enjoyed by Russian forces in the conflict.

The war has now entered its fifth year. Russian advances have slowed significantly throughout this year. In certain sectors, advances were brought to a halt last month. These developments have been attributed in part to Ukrainian drone campaigns.

Since the start of the conflict in 2022, Western countries have provided tens of billions of dollars in various forms of support to Ukraine. As part of the new aid package, individual allies may be asked to contribute amounts ranging from 2 billion to 6 billion dollars each.

Ukraine continues to depend on its own production of drones to maintain pressure on Russian forces and to counter their military capabilities.
