UNAMA Opens Public Tender for Sale of Office and Technical Equipment

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has officially opened a public tender for the sale of office and technical equipment. The items listed for sale are being decommissioned from UNAMA's headquarters as well as its various regional offices located across Afghanistan.

The inventory available for bidding includes a diverse range of assets. These include standard office furniture and kitchen supplies, along with sports equipment. Furthermore, the sale encompasses technical and industrial equipment, specifically generators, shipping containers, and various IT and telecommunications hardware.

As part of the tender's outreach and inclusivity efforts, UNAMA has expressed a specific encouragement for organizations that support people with disabilities to participate in the bidding process.

Interested bidders must submit their applications by the deadline of June 7.

The decision to sell these assets comes at a time when United Nations agencies are conducting a broader review of their overall operational costs. This review is driven by a decline in international funding for humanitarian programs within Afghanistan, necessitating a more stringent approach to resource management. By selling unused or surplus equipment, agencies aim to reduce operational expenditures and optimize their remaining budgets to maintain essential humanitarian services in the country.
