UNICEF Assures Continuation of Cooperation in Wastewater Management in Afghanistan

Officials from the Islamic Emirate Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Company met with UNICEF representatives to strengthen cooperation and coordination on wastewater management.

Maulvi Ghulam Rahman Kazim, executive director of the Islamic Emirate Urban Water Supply and Sewerage Company, outlined the current status of wastewater management, existing capacities, and future programs. He noted that various plans are underway to improve and develop wastewater management in cities and key central areas, though implementation requires investment and support from partner organizations.

Fray Tonham, UNICEF Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Officer, emphasized the importance of effective wastewater management for public health and assured continued cooperation in the sector. Both sides stressed the value of ongoing joint work and coordination to improve water supply and sanitation services.
