UNICEF Begins Aid Distribution to 5,500 Families Displaced by Taliban-Pakistan Border Clashes

KABUL — UNICEF has begun distributing health kits and essential items to 5,500 families displaced by recent border clashes in Khost, Paktika and Paktia provinces.

Tajuddin Aiwali, a UNICEF representative, announced the initiative, which aims to provide assistance to those affected by the conflicts along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

The aid effort follows clashes between Taliban forces and Pakistan that have killed numerous civilians and displaced around 20,000 families, according to the World Food Programme (WFP). The United Nations agencies are responding to the humanitarian needs arising from the escalation in border tensions.
