US Citizen Dennis Coyle Transferred to UAE After Release from Kabul

A US citizen identified as Dennis Coyle, previously detained in Kabul, has been released and transferred to the United Arab Emirates through a diplomatic process facilitated by the UAE, the UAE Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry stated that the UAE hosted and facilitated the release and transfer operation to the United States, involving representatives from relevant authorities on both sides. Officials noted that the selection of the UAE as the venue reflects trust in its role as a reliable mediator in supporting diplomatic and humanitarian solutions.

Kabul authorities said Coyle was released following a request from his mother and a decision by the supreme court, adding that his detention period had been deemed sufficient. They emphasized that the detention was related to legal violations, not political reasons, and that due process had been followed.

Kabul officials further stated that no foreign nationals are held for political reasons.

The transfer underscores the UAE's growing role as a mediator in regional and international issues, facilitating dialogue and humanitarian efforts in complex situations. Such diplomatic engagements often help ease tensions and enable communication between countries with limited direct contact.
