WASHINGTON (Afghan Verified) -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has revoked the permanent residency status, or green cards, of Hamida Soleimani Afshar, niece of slain Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, and her unnamed daughter, according to a US State Department statement.
Afshar and her daughter were detained by federal agents and are now in the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement awaiting deportation. The State Department described them as explicit supporters of the Iranian regime who promoted its propaganda in the US, celebrated attacks on US forces and backed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which is designated as a terrorist organization by the US.
Afshar's husband has also been barred from entering the United States.
This action follows a similar revocation by Rubio of the legal status of Fatemeh Ardeshir Larijani, daughter of former Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani, and her husband Seyed Kelantar Motamedi. They are prohibited from entering the US.
Rubio confirmed the revocations in a social media post, stating that Afshar and her daughter await deportation and that the US will not harbor supporters of anti-American terrorist regimes.
