Uzbek Delegation Visits Kabul to Expand Trade Relations

A delegation comprising representatives from both the government and the private sector of Uzbekistan has arrived in Kabul to strengthen trade relations. The visit comes as part of a broader effort to enhance economic ties, following specific directives issued by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who ordered Uzbek institutions to strengthen their trade relations with the Taliban.

The visiting delegation is scheduled to hold meetings with Nooruddin Azizi, the Minister of Industry and Commerce. These discussions are intended to identify new opportunities for trade expansion and to solidify existing economic cooperation between the two countries, focusing on the growth of bilateral commerce and the facilitation of trade.

Afghanistan is currently positioned as one of Uzbekistan's top ten trade partners. The total value of annual trade between the two nations is reported to be 508 million dollars. The visit underscores the strategic importance of the economic relationship as both parties seek to increase the volume of goods and services exchanged across their borders. The involvement of the private sector alongside government officials indicates a comprehensive approach to expanding the economic partnership between Kabul and Tashkent.
