
Vienna Conference Spotlights Crisis in Afghan Women's Education and Rights
VIENNA (Afghan Verified) -- A conference titled "Solidarity of Women for Education and Self-Determination in Afghanistan" was held in Vienna, uniting Afghan diaspora figures, Austrian officials, and international participants from Europe and the United States.
The event highlighted restrictions on girls' education in Afghanistan and advocated for greater support to address the crisis. Participants emphasized the need to tackle limitations on secondary and higher education for Afghan women and girls, while calling for cooperation between Afghan exile communities and European institutions.
Workshops focused on strategies for supporting girls' education and integrating Afghan women into the diaspora labor market. Organizers aimed to amplify the voices of Afghan women amid ongoing educational restrictions.
The conference also marked the 30th anniversary of the AKIS cultural association and the 26th anniversary of Bano magazine, recognizing their contributions to Afghan women's causes in exile.
Afghan diaspora representatives and officials discussed ways to sustain advocacy efforts and foster solidarity for education and self-determination in Afghanistan.
