Water Supply Network Completed for 93 Families in Baghlan Province
A newly constructed water supply network in Valian village, located in the Khinjan district of Baghlan province, has begun providing clean drinking water to 93 local households. The infrastructure project was completed with financial support from the World Bank at a total cost of $38,984.
According to Nurjan, press official for the Baghlan Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, the system draws water from a nearby natural spring and channels it through 3,876 meters of pipeline. The network is equipped with a 20-cubic-meter reservoir and features 55 public water taps to serve the surrounding community.
The completion of the project addresses longstanding water access challenges in the area. Beyond improving daily living conditions, the construction phase generated temporary employment for dozens of local residents, providing a direct economic benefit to the district. Local officials emphasized that the infrastructure will reduce the time and effort previously required to fetch water from distant sources.
Provincial authorities highlighted that the initiative aligns with broader rural development efforts aimed at upgrading essential services in underserved regions. Officials noted that reliable access to safe drinking water remains a central priority for rehabilitation programs, with additional projects planned to extend coverage to neighboring communities.
The Department of Rural Rehabilitation and Development continues to coordinate with international funding partners to implement similar water and sanitation initiatives across the province.
