Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, stated that 726,560 metric tons of goods were imported and exported through Afghanistan's railway lines during the month of Dalo in the current solar year.
He provided a breakdown by border points: 465,548 tons via Hairatan port, 61,739 tons via Aqina port, 113,217 tons via Torghundi port, and 86,056 tons via the Khaf-Herat line. These transfers included petroleum products, non-petroleum goods, and other materials.
Haqshenas noted that exports accounted for one portion of the total, with 2,353 tons of commercial goods shipped out last month. The majority consisted of dried fruits, mineral stones, and pomegranate juice.
He emphasized that increasing rail transfers and exports creates more job opportunities, boosts national revenues, and paves the way for economic stability, progress, and self-sufficiency.
The Ministry of Public Works aims to improve conditions for such transfers, offering more facilities to domestic and foreign traders while making commercial goods transport via railways more sustainable and efficient to further increase national revenues.
