Afghan and Uzbek Private Sectors Sign 16 Trade Agreements Worth $16 Million

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) announced that the private sectors of Afghanistan and Uzbekistan have signed 16 trade agreements valued at more than $16 million. The deals were finalized during a joint business meeting held in Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya province.

The agreements cover a range of goods, including dry fruits, wheat, general food items, clothing, and pharmaceuticals. Chamber officials stated that the contracts are intended to expand commercial exchanges between the two neighboring countries and support local producers in accessing regional markets.

ACCI Deputy for Investment Arian Zalgi Azimi attended the meeting alongside Surkhandarya Governor Ulugbek Qosimov. During the event, both sides discussed measures to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and address logistical challenges affecting cross-border commerce. Officials emphasized the need to improve export transit facilities and streamline customs procedures to facilitate smoother trade flows.

The meeting brought together business leaders and government representatives to discuss practical steps for enhancing trade volumes. Participants highlighted the importance of reliable transportation corridors and reduced bureaucratic hurdles for merchants operating along the shared border. Both delegations pledged to maintain regular dialogue to ensure the successful implementation of the agreements and explore additional sectors for future collaboration.
