Afghan Bodybuilder Mohammad Ali Azimi Qualifies for Mr. Olympia with Win in Netherlands
Mohammad Ali Azimi, an Afghan bodybuilder based in Austria, secured first place in the Classic Physique division at the Interflex competition held in the Netherlands on Monday.
His victory earns him direct qualification for Mr. Olympia, marking him as only the second Afghan athlete to achieve this distinction in the sport's premier event.
Spain's Fran Mina Ibanez finished second, while Dutch athlete Siim Goossens took third place in the division.
Azimi trained under the guidance of Afghan bodybuilding star Ali Bilal, who himself claimed the Arnold Classic Men’s Physique title and finished as runner-up at Mr. Olympia.
The achievement underscores the increasing prominence of Afghan athletes in international bodybuilding competitions, building on the legacy established by figures like Bilal. Azimi's success at the Interflex event highlights the dedication and skill of Afghan competitors on the global stage, where they continue to compete at high levels despite challenges.
