Afghan Merchants Sign 20 Contracts Worth Over $400 Million with Uzbek Counterparts in Fergana
An Afghan business delegation led by Zalgai Azimi signed 20 commercial contracts worth over $400 million with Uzbek counterparts in Fergana province. The deals build on recent trade growth to $1.5 billion in 2025 and the creation of a joint business council.

A delegation of Afghan merchants led by Zalgai Azimi, deputy of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries for investment affairs, signed 20 commercial contracts worth more than $400 million with Uzbek businesses in Fergana province, Uzbekistan.
The agreements cover textiles, supply of raw materials, pharmaceuticals and other production industries. The signing ceremony was attended by trade delegations from both countries and reported by the Uzbek news agency Dunyo. The Afghan delegation also included Abdullah Rahimi, Syed Ahmad Noorzad and Obaidullah Hotak.
This follows the establishment of the Afghanistan-Uzbekistan Business Council at the end of March, involving 32 members from both the Taliban administration and Uzbekistan.
Earlier, on 15 Hamal, 10 commercial memoranda of understanding worth more than $65 million were signed in Qoqan, Fergana province, according to the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce. In early Hamal, 25 cooperation MoUs valued at $514.80 million were signed in Kabul, with Nooruddin Azizi and Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Shukrat Abdulrazakov present, as stated by the Taliban Ministry of Commerce.
Trade volume between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan grew 53 percent in 2025 to $1.5 billion, according to Uzbekistan's National Statistics Commission. Uzbekistan does not recognize the Taliban administration but continues extensive commercial engagement.
