
Afghan Under-17 Football Team Departs for Uzbekistan for CAFA Championship
KABUL (Afghan Verified) - The Afghan national under-17 football team has departed for Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to take part in the 2026 CAFA Under-17 Championship.
The Afghanistan Football Federation announced the team's departure on its official Facebook page on Saturday. The squad left Kabul this morning for the tournament, which will feature teams from Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
Afghanistan is scheduled to play its opening match against Kyrgyzstan on April 6. The championship brings together youth teams from Central Asian nations under the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) banner.
The federation expressed optimism about the team's performance, highlighting the players' preparations leading up to the event. This regional competition provides an important platform for young Afghan talents to gain international exposure and experience.
The departure marks another step in Afghanistan's continued participation in regional football events since the formation of the current national structures. Fans and officials alike are anticipating competitive matches in Tashkent.
