Afghan, Uzbek Companies Sign $2 Million Contract for Trading Chicks and Eggs
KABUL (Afghan Verified) — The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock announced the signing of a $2 million contract between Afghan company Yashlar Samarkand and Uzbek company Hamkar Parande for the trade of one-day-old chicks and fertile eggs.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of a meeting between Minister Maulvi Ataullah Omari and Uzbek officials, the ministry said.
The contract aims to strengthen Afghanistan's poultry production chain, reduce dependency on imports for chicks and eggs, and develop commercial cooperation between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
Afghanistan is nearing self-sufficiency in chicken meat production but still relies on imports for one-day-old chicks and fertile eggs, according to the ministry.
