
'Afghanistan Expo Tashkent' Opens in Uzbekistan with Afghan Business Delegation
TASHKENT, Uzbekistan — The first international "Afghanistan Expo Tashkent" exhibition opened Wednesday at the Uzexposenter exhibition complex in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The event was held on the initiative of the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. An Afghan delegation comprising about 120 businessmen, led by Mohammad Karim Hashemi, head of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, is participating in the expo.
Bilateral trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan reached 1.68 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, marking a 50 percent increase from the previous year. Uzbek exports to Afghanistan totaled 1.53 billion dollars, while imports from Afghanistan amounted to 145 million dollars.
More than 600 companies with Afghan investment are active in Uzbekistan as of early 2026, underscoring growing economic ties between the two countries.
The exhibition showcases a range of Afghan products, including food and agricultural goods, building materials, textiles, jewelry, carpets and handicrafts. It features business meetings, presentations and the signing of agreements, and will run until March 28.
