Afghanistan's Fuel Prices 46.54% Lower Than Pakistan's, Foreign Ministry Official Says
KABUL (Afghan Verified) — Shafie Azam, Economic Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that fuel and gas prices in Afghanistan are 46.54% lower than in neighboring Pakistan.
Azam attributed the lower prices to market diversity, low taxes and effective price stabilization mechanisms.
He provided specific figures, noting that in Afghanistan, petrol costs 0.97 U.S. dollars per liter, diesel 1.05 U.S. dollars per liter and gas 0.76 U.S. dollars per kilogram.
In comparison, Pakistan's prices stand at 1.64 U.S. dollars per liter for petrol, 1.86 U.S. dollars per liter for diesel and 1.70 U.S. dollars per kilogram for gas.
Azam highlighted that these prices in Afghanistan have remained stable despite recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, which could have impacted regional energy markets.
The official's remarks come amid discussions on Afghanistan's energy market, where lower costs are seen as a competitive advantage over Pakistan.
