Afghanistan's Industry Minister Meets Chinese Special Envoy on Trade and Investment
Nooruddin Azizi, Afghanistan's Minister of Industry and Commerce, met with Yue Xiaoyong, China's special representative for Afghanistan, in Kabul to discuss expanding trade and investment opportunities.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Azizi highlighted the secure and conducive environment for investment and invited Chinese investors to capitalize on opportunities across various economic sectors for mutual benefit. He emphasized increasing exports to China, particularly cotton, pomegranates, pistachios, precious and semi-precious stones, and other Afghan products. Azizi called for enhanced customs, transit, and transportation facilities between the two countries.
Yue Xiaoyong expressed interest from Chinese traders and investors in entering the Afghan market, describing Afghanistan as a country with untapped investment opportunities in China's strategy. He stressed the importance of cooperation between relevant institutions of both countries to support the private sector and develop economic ties.
Bakhtar News referred to Azizi as the minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The meeting concluded with agreement on greater collaboration between the two countries' institutions to facilitate trade and promote investment.
