
Afghanistan's National Buzkashi Team to Face Hungary in Kokpar 2026 Opener
KABUL (Afghan Verified) - Afghanistan's national Buzkashi team will play Hungary on Tuesday in its first group stage match of the Kokpar 2026 competitions, held in Turkistan, Kazakhstan.
Mullah Ahmadullah Waseeq, president of the National Olympic Committee, Physical Education and Sports of Afghanistan, announced the matchup in a message posted on his X page. The game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Afghanistan time.
Afghanistan is placed in Group 2 with the teams from Russia, Hungary and Mongolia. The tournament features nine teams divided into two groups, with Group 1 comprising the teams of Turkey, Kazakhstan, China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Group 1 has five teams, while Group 2 includes four. The competitions begin Tuesday and will continue until Saturday, the first of Hamal 1405.
