Azizi Group Signs Contract with Italian Firm for Steel Rebar Factory Completion
The production and industries division of Azizi Group has signed a contract with Italian company Pomini Long Rolling Mills for steel rebar production.
Mirwais Azizi, owner of Azizi Group companies, said the purpose of the agreement is to complete and activate the company's steel rebar production factory. Under the deal, Pomini Long will supply all machinery and technical systems for the facility in the coming months.
The factory is one of 12 production facilities operated by Azizi Group. It is located in the KEZAD industrial zone in Abu Dhabi's emirate in the United Arab Emirates and has an annual capacity of 600,000 tons to supply the company's construction projects.
Pomini Long Rolling Mills is an Italian engineering and industrial firm specializing in heavy industries and steel. It designs and builds steel factories and production lines, with expertise in hot rolling of long steel products.
Citizens have criticized Afghan businessmen for investing abroad, arguing that such factories provide no benefit to locals and cannot alleviate the country's difficult economic conditions. They say unemployment and poverty have expanded since the Taliban's return to power, leaving people struggling daily.
