Local sources in Badakhshan province report that unknown individuals, mostly Kochi nomads and Pashtuns from southern and eastern Afghanistan, are being transported to border districts including Shughnan and Eshkashim.

The individuals are moved in Dina-type vehicles covered with tarps, with sightings reported in the Shughnan and Eshkashim areas. Local sources allege these outsiders aim to seize gold mines in the region. Native residents have expressed extreme concern over their presence.

Some of the individuals are reportedly conducting intelligence activities village-to-village in Eshkashim district under the pretext of camel selling. Taliban border kandaks, or units, are said to facilitate the transfers using military vehicles, presenting the outsiders as gold traders or buyers.

A reliable source cited by Hasht-e Subh noted that Amanuddin Mansour, the Taliban governor in Helmand, previously warned opponents during a trip to Badakhshan.

The reports highlight tensions among border communities amid unverified claims of resource grabs and security activities.

Reliability assessment

Single source relying entirely on unnamed 'local sources' and one 'reliable source' for core claims of transportation, Taliban involvement, mine seizing, and intelligence activities; no independent corroboration or named on-record attribution for the main event.

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Hasht-e Subh: "native residents are extremely worried" (intensifies emotional concern of locals); "apparently carry out intelligence activities" (speculative accusation implying covert malice); "to seize mines" (frames actions as aggressive takeover). These mix neutral reporting with emotional framing and unsubstantiated suspicion to advocate for border residents' perspective.

Independent web corroboration
