Security Forces Arrest Three Theft Gangs in Herat, Recover 24 Vehicles

Security forces in Herat arrested three professional theft gangs involved in armed vehicle thefts across multiple Afghan provinces. The operation resulted in the recovery of 24 stolen vehicles.

Lieutenant General Qari Najibullah Ali said the gangs transported the stolen vehicles to Herat after carrying out the thefts in various provinces. All members of the three gangs are now in custody and under legal investigation, the Ministry of Interior reported.

Some owners of the recovered vehicles thanked the security forces for their efforts. They called for legal punishment of the perpetrators involved in the thefts.

The arrests mark a coordinated effort by authorities to address organized vehicle theft operations that had affected multiple regions. Investigations into the gangs' activities continue as officials review evidence collected during the operation.

Authorities have not released further details on the identities of those detained or the specific provinces where the thefts occurred. The recovered vehicles are being processed for return to their rightful owners.
