A militant attack on a security checkpoint in Hangu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, killed multiple police officers and militants on Wednesday evening.
The assault targeted the Khazana Banda checkpost. Security forces responded with a counter-operation that killed several militants, according to police statements.
Ariana News reported seven police officers and eight militants killed, with 22 officers injured. Khaama Press reported nine police officers killed, including DSP Diyar Khan, and 28 officers injured, with police killing 15 militants.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The incident follows a similar assault in Tank district that also resulted in 15 deaths.
