Beet Cultivation in Baghlan Rises 50 Percent, Raising Sugar Output Expectations

Officials at the Baghlan sugar factory said beet cultivation this year reached 500 jeribs, up from 250 jeribs last year. The 50 percent increase is expected to lead to higher sugar production at the facility.

Mullah Baran Qudrat, executive head of the Baghlan sugar factory, attributed the growth to incentives offered to farmers, improved seeds, distribution of fertilizer, and technical support. The factory also allocated 300 additional jeribs of land near the Qoshtepa canal for beet cultivation.

Factory officials described expanding industrial crops as a priority. They said the measures aim to boost output and support local farmers through better market access and resources.

The reported changes focus on increasing raw material supply for the sugar factory in the province.
