
Commercial Market Opened in Taloqan at Cost of 24 Million Afghanis
A new commercial market named Tut Bagh has been completed and officially opened in Taloqan, the provincial capital of Takhar. The facility was constructed at a total cost of 24 million Afghanis, with all financing provided through the municipal development budget.
Construction of the project spanned two years and covered a total area of 1,200 square meters. The completed complex features 84 individual retail shops, two large commercial halls, and additional supporting amenities. The infrastructure is designed to accommodate local vendors and streamline daily commercial operations in the area.
Taloqan Mayor Mawlawi Abdul Ghafour Sirat presided over the inauguration and formal handover ceremony. He stated that the new market is intended to improve working conditions for local merchants and stimulate broader economic activity throughout the city. Municipal officials noted that the centralized facility will help organize local trade and provide a structured environment for daily business transactions.
The opening of the Tut Bagh market represents a recent municipal development initiative aimed at supporting regional commerce. The project was initiated to address the need for organized retail space in the provincial center. Officials indicated that the new market will consolidate scattered commercial activities into a single, managed location. Local authorities confirmed that the facility has been formally transferred for public use and is now fully operational for shop owners and residents.
