Construction Begins on Commercial-Medical Complex and Pedestrian Underpass in Herat

Construction has started in Herat on a commercial-medical complex and pedestrian underpass located in front of the provincial hospital. The project spans 2,500 square meters and consists of two underground levels. It is being funded by the Herat municipality's development budget at a total cost of 38 million Afghanis.

The initiative is designed to ease traffic flow and reduce congestion around the hospital area. It will also expand commercial and medical services available to the public while improving overall access for patients and citizens.

The complex is set to include standard parking spaces along with well-equipped pharmacies and specialized medical examination centers. These features are intended to facilitate movement for pedestrians and enhance the delivery of health services in the province.

Local officials have indicated that the project addresses key urban needs by combining infrastructure improvements with expanded facilities. The underground design allows for efficient use of space in a high-traffic zone.

Once completed, the underpass will provide safer crossing options for residents, and the medical components will support better healthcare access near the hospital. The commercial elements are expected to contribute to local economic activity.
