Construction of $160 Million Cement Factory to Begin in Jawzjan Province
Operational work on the Yateem Taq Cement Factory in Jawzjan province is set to begin Monday, following a $160 million investment, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum.
Ministry spokesperson Mufti Humayun Afghan stated that the facility will have a daily production capacity of 3,000 tons of cement and is expected to create approximately 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. The ministry confirmed these targets as part of the official project scope, noting that the facility will be located in the Yatimtaq area of Jawzjan province.
Officials emphasized that the factory’s establishment will contribute to regional economic growth and provide long-term employment opportunities for local residents. The development aligns with broader government initiatives to expand domestic industrial capacity, improve infrastructure, and attract further investment into the country’s extractive sector.
In addition to the Jawzjan project, the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum noted that assessments of mining sites in the eastern zone have been completed. These evaluations are intended to improve resource management and establish a clearer framework for future commercial partnerships.
The Yateem Taq facility represents one of several large-scale industrial initiatives recently highlighted by the ministry as part of ongoing economic development efforts.
