The Ministry of Public Works has announced that rehabilitation work on the fifth lot of the Qaisar-Laman ring road is currently underway. The project covers a 25-kilometer stretch and is being carried out at a total cost of 1.45 billion afghanis.
The road is being built to a width of 12 meters. This includes a 7-meter asphalt surface along with 2.5-meter shoulders on each side. Additional features under construction comprise three large bridges measuring 60 meters, 90 meters, and 180 meters in length respectively.
Other infrastructure elements include 68 culverts, 270 meters of retaining walls, 1,620 meters of roadside ditches, and concrete sidewalks. The work has been contracted between the Ministry of Public Works and the private sector.
This section forms a key part of Afghanistan's ring highway. It will link northern and northeastern provinces with western and southwestern regions of the country.
